If typography is "What language looks like," as Ellen Lupton suggested, then this handwritten message is some form of typography. There are a number of things we can discuss about it that will give us a greater perspective on typography...something beyond the dustiness of dead civilizations and technical talk about ordering font design into rigid classes.
